Baptism Story: Alyssa T.

After coming to BridgePointe at the invitation of a friend, Alyssa encountered a Jesus unlike the one she had heard about from others and chose to respond in baptism. She was baptized Sunday, April 18th at the end of the 11:30 service. Below is her baptism story in her own words.

“Prior to making this decision to commit, religion was a very tough subject in my life. Coming from an interfaith family posed several challenges for me in deciding and figuring out where my faith was. It took deep understanding of what Christianity truly is for me to decide that, undeniably, a life with Jesus by my side was the right way for me.

I cared for the youngest daughter of a family as a CNA until it was time for me to embark on my career as an RN. I became a friend to them, and they became a friend to me. They showed me Christianity is not what the media portrays, what politics express, but actually a selfless religion where you admit that Jesus is the answer, and those who follow Him do so with love, and not with hate and discrimination.

Today, I see with a much clearer eye what Jesus is doing. I may not like at the moment all that is happening. My job as an RN has left me severely burnt out with exhaustion, sadness, and anger, as I have worked through the COVID pandemic. I pray to God and said I have to trust your plan, and despite my stress, everything seems OK.

I now am putting my trust in Jesus, with trust being an extremely hard thing for me. I need faith more than ever to combat and tackle my anxiety. I pray now more than ever, that Baptism will be the marker of the beginning of my journey, to center my life with a pure trust in Jesus, to help guide my life in a positive direction. I know I need this trust more than ever. And if I never trust, I’ll never combat or manage my anxiety. If I don’t put my trust in God, there will be no trust for anyone in my life.

God has been speaking to me, “it’s time to trust me.” It’s time to officially be baptized and commit to trust and follow Jesus. It’s now or never.

I thank God everyday for this opportunity, for giving me the opportunity to start my journey, and I thank God for all the existing good in my life. Thank you for Praying for me. I am ONE “
