Stop by this walk-in swab event put on by the RI Blood Center to find potential donors for the Be The Match registry.
Thousands of people are diagnosed every year with a life-threatening blood cancer like leukemia and lymphoma. There is a cure … That cure is a stem cell transplant from a matched donor. Only 30% of patients have a matching donor in their family, leaving most patients to rely on Be The Match to help find an unrelated donor. Through Rhode Island Blood Center’s partnership with Be the Match, you may find out you are the perfect match for someone in need!
If you are 18-44 years old and in general good health, then you are an ideal candidate to join the registry. The guidelines for joining the registry are different than the guidelines for donating blood.
This is a walk in only event.
