MAKING DISCIPLES OF JESUS IN RELATIONSHIPS
What it means to be a disciple
Since our founding in 2013, BridgePointe’s mission has been to make disciples of Jesus in relationships. A disciple is a follower of Jesus. To further help us, we have defined a disciple as someone who:
Lives with Jesus as king
Builds up His church
Brings the kingdom of God to earth
And under these three categories we have identified six spiritual practices that move us closer to Jesus.
Abide Daily
Worship weekly
Connect deeply
Serve selflessly
Give generously
Live intentionally
These practices have repeated behaviors that become part of who we are. If you do these things, it is likely that you will be living as a disciple of Jesus.
Live with Jesus as King
“. . . that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.” - Ephesians 1:20-21
The Biblical image of Jesus as King informs how we live our lives. Jesus claims the position not by force but by His sacrificial love for us.
Giving Jesus authority over our lives is essential to being His disciple.
Elaborate—His word commands our lives, we submit our desires, etc
