Baptism Stories 2/8

We celebrated two baptisms, Kristin A. and Joel R. , at our 10 am service on Sunday, Feb 8th. We are grateful to be witnesses to God’s work among us. Read their baptism stories below, and join us in praying for them both!

Kristin A.

Kristin says that before returning to church, she felt lost, angry, anxious, and filled with self-doubt—even a deep dissatisfaction with everyday life. Although she was raised Catholic and had a meaningful faith growing up, over the years she lost her way. She began questioning God and even blaming Him for the evil and sadness she saw in the world.

Despite pushing God away, Kristin felt a deep void in her heart—a longing for something more than herself. Her return to faith was sparked by tragedy: the public killing of Charlie Kirk. His life and conviction stirred something deep within her and pointed her toward Jesus as the only source of hope.

In that moment, Kristin felt an undeniable call to come home to Jesus. Her heart was filled with sadness, repentance, love, and a yearning for God’s presence she can only describe as divine. She reached out to her friend Matt Pinkos, asking where she could go to pray and respond to this calling, and he invited her to BridgePointe.

There, Kristin found a Christ-centered community she is deeply grateful for. She spent her first month in worship overwhelmed with tears of joy, humility, hope, and gratitude—realizing God had been waiting for her all along. Today, Kristin is being baptized to boldly proclaim before the church and the world that Jesus is her King, her God, and her Savior.

Joel R.

Joel says that before returning to Jesus, his life felt marked by a deep emptiness. After coming home from serving in the Navy, he lost his faith and struggled with PTSD, feeling disconnected and weighed down by the pain he carried. There was a void in his life that he didn’t know how to fill.

Everything began to change when Joel started coming to church in September. With each service, he felt himself drawing closer to Jesus. That emptiness began to fade, and he found new strength, peace, and hope through faith. He’s learning how to pray again and to rely on Jesus day by day.

Today, Joel is being baptized to publicly declare that his life no longer belongs to the emptiness of his past, but to Jesus—who is restoring him, healing him, and making him whole.
