Travis J. was experiencing a period of emptiness and searching in life, and reached out to his brother-in-law, who he knew had developed a strong faith in Jesus. Travis started attending Bible Lab, finding out the answers to many of his questions about Jesus, and decided to take the step of getting baptized and declaring Jesus as King of his life.
Travis’ story reminds us that we all have an opportunity to share the love of Jesus with people in our family or friend circles. Just like Nelson shared with Travis, we too can pray for one person that we can share God’s love with.
From Travis:
My journey to baptism came during a time of self-reflection. Simply put, my heart had been hardened. My faith felt empty for a variety of reasons, even though I knew God was always present. Time had to play out to show me the truth.
On multiple occasions during my time of reflection, I was praying to God and there were subtle responses. I did not realize this at the time though, because I was not allowing His word to be recieved. I was trying to walk alone and follow my own plan.
The next response from God felt clear and intentional: an invitation from my family to attend BridgePointe. The invitation came from my brother-in-law Nelson G. and his wife, Laura G. My first time coming to Bridgepointe, I recall singing joyful praise with tear-filled eyes because it felt like a turning point. My heart opened up to love, joy, a striving for significance with other believers. It became evident to me that I needed to surrender. So I did just that.
Now, I can’t turn back and that is what confirmed my decision to be baptized amongst this loving community.
To the pastors, BridgePointe team, and Nelson: thank you!
With love and gratitude,
Travis J.
