DeShawn, a member of the BridgePointe family, chose to be baptized in response to the Spirit’s prompting in the same pond that his mother and grandmother were baptized in on August 29th. Here is his story in his own words.
“Going to BridgePointe has really helped me open my communication with God and to approach things a lot differently. This was great but I felt that I wasn't quite fulfilled. There was something missing that was preventing me from feeling whole.
A couple of years ago (right before covid) after witnessing fellow church members get baptized at the end of one of the services at BridgePointe I felt something pushing me to get baptized. Up to that point I had held off and came up with excuses and reasons to myself why I hadn't done it yet. I prayed on it and the message to get baptized was clear so the question wasn't if I should... the message was where and why?
I didn't end up getting baptized at BridgePointe (which would've been great) but my conversations with God brought me to the church that my Grandmother went to before she passed and Mother currently goes to. Both of them were baptized in a pond in Massachusetts and I had an urge and a vision of getting baptized there myself. The feeling was surreal and its very hard to put into words. Having my wife and children there with me to share the moment will always be with me.”
