Some ways you can love your neighbor
Every need in our community is an opportunity to share God’s love. That’s why, as a church family, we’re responding to the COVID-19 crisis, not with fear, but by serving the people who are most vulnerable. No matter how scary things get, remember, fear doesn’t have the final word. 1 John 4:18 says, “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.” Our hope is found in the perfect love of Jesus, as God’s people, we are called to share that love with those around us. And that’s exactly what we’ll be doing in the coming weeks and months as more people in our community are in need. One of the most valuable gifts you can give is your time. If you want to help, there are multiple ways you can serve people in your community who are vulnerable to the virus. Here are some ways that you can show God’s love.
Love your Neighbor
Regularly call or text those in your neighbor to check in with them.
If you are able and healthy, grocery shop for the elderly or those most at risk.
Bless your neighbor with an online order or gift card - a gift basket may be safe, or find a contact-free way to do the same.
Buy gift certificates from your local businesses to use at a later date.
Donate blood at the RI Blood Center.
Send an encouraging email to your school staff, state representatives, and local leaders.
Offer words of hope for those dealing with anxiety and depression.
